low-energy plan (spoon theory)

Protect energy by choosing what matters most today.

the practice

  1. 1

    Acknowledge your current energy limit.

  2. 2

Pick 1 must-do task with real consequences.

  3. 3

Pick 1 can-wait task and give yourself permission to defer it.

  4. 4

Pick 1 ask-for-help task and send the request.

why this works

What it does Spoon planning is an energy-budget approach for days when you have very limited capacity. It helps you protect essentials without overextending.

Q: What are "spoons"? "Spoons" is a metaphor for available energy units. On a bad day, you might only have 3 spoons. Every task costs spoons. When they are gone, they are gone.

The three-action plan - One must-do -the non-negotiable essential - One can-wait -something that feels urgent but will be fine tomorrow - One ask-for-help -a task someone else can cover today > Sharing spoon language with family and friends helps them understand your capacity without you having to explain from scratch every time.
